On April 13th I will join the crew of TravelTelly for an exciting road trip across the ring road of Iceland. One week on the road, filming, photographing and documenting some of the most beautiful scenarios of this amazing island.
We will meet in Reykjavik where Johannes will have the pleasure to taste winter again after more than a year traveling across all kind of warm summers around the world. It would be interesting to catch his 1st impressions of winter, actually of an Icelandic winter after such a long time. On the first day we will be heading to Geysir to see one of the most typical sites before driving South, where we will do the traditional South coast drive among waterfalls and black sandy lava beaches.
We will be heading towards Hofn where we will stop at the feet of the Vatnajokull Glacier to admire the Glacier Lagoon and the glaciers surrounding the area. The Skaftafell National Park is one of the most beautiful areas of Iceland, and, hoping in some sort of nice and sunny days, we hope to catch the most out of all that beauty.
Day 3 we move towards one of my favorite areas in Iceland: the Eastern coast. Set among mountain pass, there are some beautiful fjords that keep changing shape and colors according to the amount of clouds that falls on them. I saw this area in summer and I fell in love with it.
Day 4 we should be able to make it to Akureyri where we will be overnighting in town while discovering the area, that has so much to offer, from Dimmu Borgir lava fields to Myvatn lake, together with waterfalls and volcanos, while up North we will try to whale watching at Husavik and enjoy a sunset on the Northern coast of this amazing island. We may try the less famous but stunning Blue Lagoon of Myvatn area, to enjoy the hot springs with less crowd.
On the way back to Reykjavik we may stop one night in Grundafjordur, on the Seltjarnarness Peninsula, to admire cliffs, birds, and natural beauties before coming back to the capital for a last relaxing day with a cold beer at the Blue Lagoon. The guys have to try Reykjavik night life before leaving, don’t you think?
The aim is to try to document the stunning nature and the life in some of the remote places of Iceland, in order to show you the beauty of such an amazing country.
