Taking pictures of the tourists in Pisa was almost more funny than the rest

Despite the beauty of such an ancient, stylish and beautiful place such as Piazza de’ Miracoli in Pisa, despite the amazing view of the leaning tower, enchanting in it perfect shape, there is one thing that astonish you the most in that Medieval Square: the people, the thousands of tourists standing at the towers feet pretending to keep it, push it, kiss it and so on. They come from all over the world just for one photo, and looking at all of them was more surprising than any other touristic site in the world.

I couldn’t stop looking at them and smiling and I have to admit that, after a while, I had the feeling to do the same. You can’t say you have been in Pisa if you didn’t try at least for a second to act like them and get a picture supporting the tower. It is a must and even if I don’t usually like the touristic spots just for this reason, in Pisa it was fun and for a day I decided to be fully part of the game.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Beautiful, isn’t it?

The 1st time you see the Pisa tower you have the impression it is almost a miracle it still stands. This is my scientific explanation at the name of the entire site, Piazza de Miracoli, literally meaning Miracles Square.
I had heard about it, studied it at school, seen it in tons of documentaries, I may have even a souvenir at home, brought from who knows who long time ago, and despite all this, despite knowing exactly what you are going to see, it is a big emotion to find it there, in front of you, standing and pending in a way that is not normal and accepted by the modern architecture rules. You can’t stop staring at it and the me you get far from it, in the middle of the square, the more it becomes impressive.

In that square, something goes behind the physic rules or maybe it is just because the Physic works so well over there that that beauty of the human art can stand still, year after year, century after century and keep enchanting the entire world.
Piazza De Miracoli embodies the concept of beauty and perfection as it was meant in the Italian Middle Age. The baptistery, the Church and the tower together gives the feeling of beauty and perfection, of connection with God that was the main aim of people in the Middle Age.
The town is the bell tower of the Church. In its highest point it reach 5 meters of pending level. It can be seen from everywhere around the square, it has a magic power of astonishment and if you concentrate, it can actually be seen everywhere in your imagination.

Who has been in Pisa and doesn’t have a photo like this?

At the feet of he pending tower

At the feet of he pending tower
