Malaga welcomed us with a Mediterranenan twist of colours and flavours!

Malaga has been a warm and nice stop over with a lot of surprises. Its Mediterranean style didn’t astonished me

Malaga narrow streets

too much, as I found it too touristic for my tastes, with a multitude of narrow streets packed of tapas bars and clothes shops. It was like a trap for tourists, and the whole town seemed to me a fake labyrinth of beauty, but the sun was warm and it was shining in the blue sky, and after 10 days on the road of Europe, in the cold, waking up always early and surrounded by snow, it has been nice to recharge the energy waking up late and enjoying the warmth and the good and cheap food of this place.
The night we arrived, we met the last 4 people joining the expedition. Now we are all. 15 passengers and 2 organizers, for a total of 17 crazy people who are probably going to start their adventure of a lifetime from tomorrow.

Yes, because tomorrow we finally set off to Morocco, to Africa and everything is going to change and become much more interesting. I can’t wait for that. It was nice to stop here in Malaga but it’s now time to go. I am tired of this town and to be in Europe still. 4 days have been almost neverending here, especially now that we are literally a step away from Morocco. I, and like me all the others, can’t just wait to leave and start to ride these 17000 kilometers of Africa.

Malaga cathedral hidden by trees

In the bar of the camping there is a small bar where we pass our evenings together, and on one of the walls there is a huge map of Africa. We love spending our time staring at it, all of us dreaming of something, thinking about this trip and tripping about this dream.
These days, the window of one of the side of the truck has been cut. We didn’t try it yet, but it must be great being on the truck and have the vision of what surrounds us.
Today we all went shopping, buying the last things before the departure. We don’t know what to expect, and that’s maybe why we don’t even know what to buy. I bought a new memory card for the camera, so that I can try to do the time lapse while in the desert. And I also bought a head light, as I will need it at night, and plastic plates and cups for the food. Funny that I found the ones for children, and no I will have to travel all the way to Cape town with my plates with a big smile at the bottom.
So it’s really happening. Tomorrow we are already in Morocco at this time most probably and the long way through Africa will be finally started.
It’s only 2 weeks since my life on the road started again, but it’s seems already such a normal life condition. Today it was Monday, but this doesn’t matter anymore to me. I start to loose the concept of days and time, every waking up is just special and it’s a new discovery of the day I have ahead. Today I woke up with the sun shining, and what a pleasure to think it will shine for the next 6 months.

It’s time to leave Europe now, our habits, our life style, our comforts and securities, our safe awareness and also our arrogance. It’s now time to spoil ourself and find our new self, getting in deep touch with the Nature and its inhabitants, with its rhythms and sounds, its sights and its real taste. I feel today as at the edge of a new experience and of a new step in life. I feel at the border of what I have been so far and of what I am going to get transformed by this experience from tomorrow on.
The fear is gone. There is not time for fear anymore. I feel already part of this, I feel I am following my path, I feel the road is leading me back there.
I have done a promise to myself these days: when I get to Cape Town I will skydive on the town, to get my energy free and spread it in the sky of that continent that I haven’t seen yet but I already know after this trip it will belong to me forever.

Jumping on the beach, with Gunnar!

Mediterranean flavours of Malaga

On the way to the castle

Jen, just joined the group

E dunque sta succedendo davvero.

Time to leave Europe
